Shift: ALL Security Clearance:No Clearance
Performs predetermined methods, operations, setups and prescribed specifications for QA inspections and tests required to substantiate conformance to drawings, specifications, and contract requirements. Conducts surveillance audits in all phases and stages during ship repair.
Technical/Associate Degree, preferably Q.A./Marine-related or equivalent, or 4 to 6 years of Quality Assurance inspection experience or equivalent trade related. Certified as a Non-Destructive Test Inspector Level II (includes VT, PT, MT, and UT) to NAVSEA TECHPUB requirements or certified in accordance with the NAVSEA Basic Paint Inspector (NBPI) course, NACE International Coating Inspector Program (CIP) Level 1 or higher, or SSPC Protective Coating Inspector Program (PCI) Level 2. If not certified, must be able to be certified if assigned these duties. Knowledge of ship repair procedures, including welding preservation, structural, machinery, electrical piping, ventilation and familiarity with various measuring instruments related to inspections. Visual Requirements - Must be able to pass a Standard Jeager's Test chart for near vision acuity reading J1 letters or equivalent with or without corrective aids and pass a color vision test using Ishihara's Test for color-deficiency.
Reports to QA Supervisor. Maintains internal contact with Project Management. Outside contact includes sub-contractors and government or Navy personnel. Must be a team player.
Successful accomplishment of the assigned tasks will directly relate to NASSCO's ability to repair ships in a cost effective manner, reducing rework and providing a quality product to the customer. Inaccurate decisions, and/or errors in work and information may put the fiscal position of the organization at risk and damage the Company's reputation. VII. UNIQUE/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Meet the requirements to obtain a DoD Regional Contractor Badge and requirements for access to U.S. Navy/ U.S. Coast Guard bases and Shipyard Controlled Industrial Areas. Secret Clearance (preferred). Pay Range: $58,320 - $76,545 Annually The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
