This position reports to and works closely with the Receiving & Warehouse Supervisor to assist in the receiving and warehouse operations. Perform a variety of functions to move supplies, materials, and equipment to and from receiving, warehouse and manufacturing areas of the plant. Organizational skills and abilities to communicate efficiently and effectively are of paramount importance. Ability to use or working knowledge of the different functions of the SAP system

MATERIAL HANDLER PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

1. Receive oral and/or written instructions from Supervisor and/or lead person.

2. Receive, count, visually inspect, and verify part numbers on material and equipment.

3. Monitor assigned Queue for requested material from production and report any discrepancies to the Supervisor, lead person.

4. Check material for defective conditions to Supervisor, lead person.

5. Safely move material between the dock, warehouse and/or manufacturing areas. Make sure all physical moves are properly and timely recorded within the SAP Warehouse Management System.

6. Conduct yard inventory, dock audit and/or cycle count as directed by Supervisor and/or lead person.

7. Perform routine preventive maintenance checks on the material handling equipment such as checking horn, tires, lights, forks and frame.

8. Exercise great caution and maintain alertness at all times when operating fork lift truck in order to avoid injury to pedestrians, other drivers, self and/or damage to materials.

9. Manage the loading and unloading of trucks including using forklift.

10. Operation of overhead crane

11. Other duties may be assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Ability to organize work, meet deadlines and work with accuracy.

3. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

4. Ability to operate standard computer and scanner equipment.

5. Ability to safely operate dock equipment, Forklift and pallet jacks.

6. Working knowledge of SAP System as it pertains to material movements.

7. General housekeeping and organization of the docks and warehouse areas.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying of heavy and/or bulky material required. Weight amounts may vary from 5 pounds to 50 pounds, any amount over 50 pounds requires physical or mechanical help. Continuous movement of arms and repetitious twisting motions of upper and lower back to move and reposition load(s). Must be able to step up on fork truck several times per shift and use upper body to support body weight when stepping up on fork truck. Continuous mental/visual demand required extensively when operating fork truck. Varied degrees of mental demand required when organizing bins/pallets in work area.
