About the Job

JPI has an exciting opportunity for a Data & Application Developer to join our Integrated Technology team located in Dallas, TX.

The Data & Applications Developer will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of internal web-based applications and data solutions that support business operations. This role will focus on full-stack application development, database management, UI/UX design, and data visualization, with a strong emphasis on JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Database management.

This position will work directly with end users, stakeholders, and IT leadership to create intuitive and efficient applications that optimize business processes and improve data accessibility. The Data & Applications Developer will serve as an individual contributor with full ownership over their applications while receiving guidance and oversight from senior technical leadership.

JPI is continuously advancing its use of technology to enhance efficiency and streamline business processes. The Data & Applications Developer will be an integral part of these initiatives, contributing technical expertise, system design, process automation, and user experience improvements.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Application Development & System Support

  • Design, develop, and maintain internal web-based applications that enhance business efficiency.

  • Create responsive, user-friendly interfaces that prioritize usability and accessibility using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

  • Develop backend logic and database-driven functionalities using SQL and APIs.

  • Manage the application development lifecycle, from concept to deployment.

  • Provide troubleshooting and problem resolution for application-related issues.

UI/UX Design & Front-End Development

  • Develop intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces with a focus on usability.

  • Design and implement layouts using HTML and CSS, ensuring applications are visually consistent and easy to navigate.

  • Conduct user research and testing to improve application workflows and engagement.

  • Implement modern UI/UX best practices to create seamless user experiences.

  • Ensure applications are responsive, accessible, and optimized for various devices.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather feedback and enhance user interactions.

Database & Data Management

  • Design, manage, and maintain Oracle Databases, ensuring data integrity, security, and performance.

  • Develop custom reports and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making.

  • Ensure data consistency and accuracy across integrated systems.

Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for process automation and workflow optimization.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices to improve system performance.

  • Assist in end-user training and create documentation for application usage and maintenance.

  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to gather feedback and implement enhancements.

Governance & Compliance

  • Maintain detailed documentation and system change logs.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and security standards for data management.

  • Conduct regular system audits to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.

AgileSprint Methodology

  • Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and deliver user stories and application features within sprint cycles

Non-essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education, Work Experience, & Physical Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED with 2-3 years of experience in application development, UI/UX design, or database management or Bachelor degree in Computer Science/related fields.

  • Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, and experience with front-end frameworks/libraries.

  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining an Oracle Database.

  • Strong understanding of UI/UX principles, responsive design, and front-end development.

  • Knowledge of SQL, database design, and API development.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and optimize applications for performance and scalability.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn new technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related fields.

  • Experience with Oracle APEX.

  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform.

  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) is a plus.

  • General knowledge of construction industry practices.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders.

  • Self-motivated and adaptable to evolving business needs.
