Summary:

The Insurance/Authorization Supervisor is responsible for providing oversight of the Insurance/Authorization team for agency consistency with Insurance guidelines, verification, and authorization to support the mission of quality and excellence in patient care and customer services to MaineHealth Care at Home (MHCAH) clients. Additional responsibilities as assigned related to reception oversight and staffing. Provides input to MHCAH leadership regarding the insurance team and the electronic medical record.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: High school diploma; additional education preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: N/A
  3. Experience: 2-4 years insurance, or office experience, preferably in a health care environment. Prior supervisory or management experience preferred. Experience working with databases, electronic medical records and other systems.
  4. Able to handle confidential patient and organizational information.
  5. Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills including ability to demonstrate effective professional communication and interpersonal skills with a wide variety of individuals internal and external to agency. Communication may be verbal or written.
  6. Verified technology and computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office, including, Word, Excel and Outlook
  7. Working knowledge of medical terminology, insurance reimbursement, and billing requirements.
  8. Ability to rapidly develop a sound understanding of Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial insurance reimbursement and billing practices.
  9. Ability and willingness to learn new skills as a result of rapid changes in the health care environment.
  10. Detail orientation with strong organizational skills.
