Avion Solutions Inc., an employee-owned company, seeks candidates for a Cyber Security Engineer/ISSM to support Aviation Networks Mission Planning. This position is based in Huntsville, AL.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:



  • Plan, execute, and implement Assess and Authorize (A & A) activities for the Aviation networks Mission Planning (ANMP) information systems using the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Work all phases of the RMF lifecycle: Categorize, Select, Implement, Assess, Authorize, and Monitor.
  • Provide a risk assessment on the severity of cybersecurity vulnerabilities in the information system.
  • Manage and update the accreditation package as required in the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS).
  • Provide technical guidance and support to system engineers/software engineers based on regarding Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs) to mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Will serve as primary product cybersecurity POC to the PEO Aviation Coc and Network Enterprise Centers (NEC) to include, but not limited to, accreditation activities, FISMA, security analysis on impacts of system designs, modifications, and technical initiatives.
  • Assess the current Cyber Security (CS) posture and assist with the implementation of mitigations for identified risks.
  • Ensure there is an acceptable level of risk for the configuration of the system to meet the following Cyber Security and RMF policies and guidelines: DoDD 8500.1, DoDI 85002.2, DoDI 8510.01, DoD 8570.01-M, AR 25-2, NIST SP800-53, CNSSI 1253, and Army Best Business (BBPs).
  • Conduct security scans using Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) and Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) to assist in determining the current security posture of the system.
  • Assist in the development of the System Security Plan (SSP) and all required artifacts/documentation.
  • Analyze to ensure the proper Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) for each system component are applied.
  • Prepare and conduct CS presentations and make cyber risk recommendations as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Required Experience:



  • BS and 10+ years of combined experience in computer science, cybersecurity, and Army Aviation information systems.
  • Strong technical background and formal education in computer science, network infrastructure, and information assurance.
  • In-depth knowledge of Army Aviation operations and the technical systems employed to service its mission.
  • Formal training and detailed knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) as applied to cybersecurity accreditations.
  • Must be a US Citizen and have/able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time. US travel only.
