THE POSITION

Are you dedicated to offering in-person customer service to Unemployment Compensation (UC) claimants who have lost a job through no fault of their own? This position gives you the opportunity to provide full-process support to claimants with technology to establish valid claims for unemployment compensation benefits. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this important role, you will provide service to all unemployment compensation customers As a Unemployment Compensation Claims Intake Interviewer, you will be responsible for conducting interviews with claimants to gather information and pertinent data to establish valid claims for benefits in accordance with Pennsylvania UC laws. Work involves entering and retrieving data, modifying records, processing claims, as well as identifying issues that may affect the eligibility of claimants for benefits. You will have the opportunity to contact claimants, employers, other service centers, or agent offices to obtain clarification of claims data to expedite processing of claims. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing forms to ensure all necessary information is provided
  • Preparing and mailing forms to verify wage and separation information
  • Maintaining records of claimant information
  • Settling routine adjustments and overpayments
  • Mentoring new employees

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Work hours may be negotiable based on operational needs.
  • Work may be required in other UC Connect Career Link locations, as needed.
  • Overnight travel and travel to Harrisburg may be required. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to telework, part time after the successful completion of the required probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection or broadband internet service with download speeds of at least 25 Mbps and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. Mobile Hot Spots, DSL, Dialup, and Satellite internet cannot be used. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the office at your headquartered location in Elk County.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of 44,890.00. (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Unemployment Compensation Intake Interviewer Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) program; or
  • Three years of customer service or office support experience which includes two years of experience resolving customer impact issues; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience or training which includes two years of experience resolving customer impact issues.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment. Under Pub 1075, acceptance of a conditional offer of employment will require submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to: a fingerprint-based federal records check; a PA State Police clearance; a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years; and a citizenship/residency verification.
