The National Systems Group serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.

We are seeking a GEOINT Ground Processing Engineer (Project Engineer-Signal and Image Process Engineering) to be part of the National Reconnaissance Office's GEOINT Ground Systems Program Office (G2SPO) within the Ground Enterprise Directorate (GED). This customer is responsible for the development and delivery of a GEOINT Ground Processing baseline ground portfolio and guiding the evolution of those systems to a fully integrated and resilient enterprise. In this position, you will be guiding the development of the US Government's next-generation GEOINT Ground Processing Major Systems Acquisition (MSA). You will guide the reachback technical efforts of an Aerospace team to assess current and potential future GEOINT Ground processing architectures and facilitate the evolution of GEOINT ground capabilities to meet the needs of the evolving mission enterprise. These efforts will include migration of the evolving systems and transitioning mission processing to cloud-based solutions.

Work Model:

This is a full-time position based at Westfields in Chantilly, Virginia, which requires 100% onsite work.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Serving as a technical advisor to the US Government in acquiring state-of-the-art software applications for GEOINT electro optical mission data processing software applications and services for deployment into a commercial cloud environment
  • Leading small teams of Aerospace subject matter experts in maturing new technologies, integrating new systems and sensors, and delivering a resilient, responsive ground architecture
  • Collaborating with an agile team of acquisition professionals and industry software developers to rapidly field new software capabilities in a dynamic mission environment
  • Proactively identifying new technologies and commercially available capabilities for integration into the framework
  • Coordinating with enterprise stakeholders to ensure that user needs are properly understood and satisfied
  • Assisting other team members in prioritizing and shaping ETG projects

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for Project Engineer - Signal and Image Process Engineering:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, or a related technical field
  • 5 or more years of ground or space systems acquisition engineering experience
  • Experience collaborating in high-performing teams of engineering professionals
  • Experience in one or more of the following domains: mission processing systems for space systems, constellation tasking and optimization, geospatial intelligence (GEOINT), signals intelligence (SIGINT), US Government acquisitions and/or systems engineering, or agile software development
  • Willing to travel domestically approx. 30 % to support customer activities and foster collaboration.
  • This position requires a current and active TS/SBI/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out

  • Advanced degree in EO imaging science, computer science/engineering, systems engineering, electrical engineering, or a related engineering or scientific field
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience or expertise in requirements development and analysis, advanced systems architecture, and EO processing technologies
  • Experience in agile software development at scale, agile IV&V testing for federal contracts, commercial cloud environments, and DevOps pipeline implementation with frequent operational deployments
