Director, Automation Programming, Brown and Caldwell, 6055 Rockside Woods Boulevard, Suite 350, Independence, OH 44131: The Director, Automation Programming will manage current Programming/Industrial Automation and be responsible for delivering on Industrial automation projects in the environmental engineering field for Public Utilities And Private Sector Clients. Management activities include workload organization, Development of budgets, schedules, and resource requirements for a variety of projects. Confer closely with Strategic Systems Service Line and other management teams to support the funnel of various projects based upon likely wins and plan resources. Oversee delivery on key metrics by the Programming/Industrial Automation team through a deep understanding of group financial metrics and development management strategies. Forecast, plan, direct and report on group performance metrics. Represent the national Programming/Industrial Automation team to respective Client Sales Teams to discuss team's capabilities, consult and negotiate on project specifications, assess project feasibility, identify example projects, potential team members, and to vet the technical capabilities of potential subcontractors. Lead the development of configuration tools in the digital space for industrial water/wastewater projects on government, municipal and/or private sector contracts using automation system programming/configuration for industrial projects. Manage project management and accounting tools and review and approve project design changes, as needed to facilitate management of the group that handles automation and control systems design. Develop scoping, scheduling, staffing, pricing/cost estimates, budgets, and bids for programming project pursuits involving automation and control systems design. Manage the Team's resources by directing recruitment and staffing placement to ensure that automation configuration projects are adequately staffed. Assist Project Teams in effective management of subcontracted Programming/Industrial Automation discipline resources to ensure that they are delivering successfully, including providing guidance as needed on automation systems cutover, migration, and construction including the physical hardware and software/programming integration. Support the Digital Water Leadership Team in the selection and purchasing of delivery tools and services to support the Team, provide feedback on potential gaps and need for tools and standards based on knowledge of industrial automation and control system changes for operations and maintenance records as needed. Provide supervision and active performance management of resources within the Team located throughout the United States, including identification of high and low contributors in the discipline, leverage high contributors to ensure successful project delivery and assist their respective supervisors to develop a professional development plan. Develop performance management measures in conjunction with leadership to the low contributors. Participation in business unit and design management meetings, representing programming group and assisting in development of overall company strategy related to this service line, including presenting, and explaining proposals, reports, and findings on various projects and defining and collaborating with partners to develop policies, automation standards, procedures, and best practices as needed to meet goals for this service line. Lead business development efforts which include pursuit of new projects, business leads, and bids, consult with internal stakeholders on the technical specifications for proposed projects and other opportunities, develop client relationships, and lead the full life cycle of project pursuits. Execute Digital Water design management assignments as selected by the Programming Team Leader in collaboration with the Digital Water Team Leader and Strategic Service Line Leader. Supervise employees in the Programming/Industrial Automation group, a technical group of employees that are located throughout the United States, by assigning project delivery staff to Programming/Industrial Automation confirmation efforts, recommending Team staff promotions and merit increases, recommending Team staff hiring and staff reductions; and recommending Team staff to be placed in a performance management plan and development of the measures included in the plan. Anticipated domestic travel is 15% of the work time. Telecommuting is permitted within commuting distance of Independence, Ohio office. Basic annual pay range is $158,000-$209,000 for full-time employment and standard company benefits. Minimum requirements: a bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent degree accepted) in Industrial Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field of study and ten (10) years of experience in designing automation and/or control systems and delivering automation projects.
