Job Description

Nature and Level of Work:

Perform skilled work on a journey level involving the fabrication or repair of structures, metal parts, or other weldable materials by welding or cutting process. All work is subject to spot checking and inspection for conformance to specifications and accepted standards of the trade.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Join, surface or otherwise fabricate or repair structures or parts of metal or other weldable material applying the following welding or cutting processes: arc, gas, resistance, solid state (friction, ultrasonic, cold, explosion, diffusion) and other processes such as electrolag, electron beam, induction, thermite and last beam.
  • Weld together metal components of such products as pipelines, automobiles, support structures and frames and various tools and equipment as specified by layout, blueprints, diagrams, work order or oral instructions.
  • Must be able to weld in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead position.
  • Examine weld for bead size and other specifications.
  • Clean, maintain, safely operate and properly store all tools and equipment.
  • May perform or assist in the preparation of cost estimates, material orders, reports and maintenance of records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Shift

7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday - Friday

Minimum Qualifications

* A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
* Four years actual work experience and training which may includeequivalent of apprenticeship or completion of vocational training, in trade.
* Ability to read blueprints, plans, and drawings.
* Skill in maintenance and use of tools, equipment and materials of applicable trade.
* Ability on a daily basis to:
- Grasp, lift, maneuver, rotate, and otherwise use small to large trades tools and equipment.
- Grasp, lift, carry, and set down heavy objects (50-80 lbs.).
- Grasp, turn, twist, pull, push, lift, and otherwise move equipment, controls, parts, etc.
- Visually assess maintenance, construction and repair needs.
- Climb and work from ladders, stairs, and scaffolding.
* A valid driver's license may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

Must possess a valid driver's license, which will allow legal operation of a motor vehicle in the State of Missouri.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $24.00 - $28.00 hourly

Grade: GGS-F
