- Perform calibration of plant instrumentation, metering, valves, dampers, actuators, controllers as required to maintain reliability. Work with high pressure steam, water, and hydraulics with pressures up to 2500 psig and temperatures up to 1000 F; occasionally working around high voltage electricity up to 13,800 volts.
- Install plant instrumentation devices including running signal and control wiring, conduit connections, termination, process connections, tubing, configuration and programming.
- Maintain and repair plant microprocessor based DCS (Distributed Control System), PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMI (Human Machine Interface), including repairs and replacements to control modules, I/O interface boards, relays, and power supplies, etc.
- Use DCS, PLC and HMI engineering software tools to troubleshoot plant process control and instrumentation problems. Assist with the implementation and maintenance of plant SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) Systems.
- Maintain and repair the plant's CEMS (Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems), including repairs, routine calibrations, calibration audits. Keep documentation and records or maintenance for the CEMS equipment.
- Safely coordinate work with power plant operations to prevent upset and/or trip of the plant or plant systems by following all plant safety practices including, but not limited to, wearing of personal protective equipment as required, following all lockout and tag out procedures, following all confined space procedures, and attending safety meetings and training sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Shift
7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; Monday through Friday. This position is part-time.
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma with a minimum of 1 year training in electronics and/or control systems is required. Current enrollment in an appropriate accredited program may also be required.
- Must be able to read and comprehend blueprints and schematics, must be able to complete mathematical computations, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios, percentages, ranges, scaling and graphing.
- Must be skilled and proficient in the use of personal computers using typical office software and common industrial controls systems software.
- Ability to use and operate the tools and equipment necessary to complete the essential functions of the job.
- A valid Missouri driver's license must be held and maintained by incumbents in this classification.
Ability on a regular basis to:
- Grasp, lift, carry and set down moderately heavy objects (50 lbs.).
- Grasp, pull and insert very small electronic parts and connections.
- Climb and work from ladders, staging and scaffolding.
- Work in a power plant environment of heat, cold, humidity, noise and dust.
Must be currently enrolled in an applicable area of study with State Technical College of Missouri, or other Missouri based technical college program.
Anticipated Hiring Range
