Department Information

Georgia Tech Human Resources (GTHR) serves the Institute and its more than 14,000 employees through strategic counsel, employee engagement, and essential human capital management operations. As the people's unit, GTHR is engaged throughout the employee's lifetime at Georgia Tech. Our team works with sensitive employee information and assists in the management of complex employee issues. Professionalism and confidence are of the utmost importance within our team.

What we do:
  • Process payroll and maintain employment data for approximately 14,000 active faculty, staff, and students
  • Strive to attract, recruit, and retain the best talent in the marketplace.
  • Provide immigration, labor, and tax support required for foreign national faculty and staff to work at Georgia Tech and support employees performing services overseas.
  • Leverage a market-driven compensation structure to attract and retain employees.
  • Advise employees and managers regarding work performance and conflict management.
Job Summary

The Classification Analyst is responsible for analyzing and evaluating job classification structures to ensure internal equity and external competitiveness. This role involves conducting market research and providing recommendations to support the organizations compensation strategy and compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Research, analyze, and compile statistics, benchmarking, and peer analysis on compensation and job classifications to develop competitive position descriptions and classifications that align with industry standards and ensure internal parity of compensation levels across the Institute.
  • Conduct job analyses to determine the classifications into which jobs are to be placed based on the similarity of the work performed, the difficulty of the work performed, and the qualifications necessary to perform the work; recommend pay grades into which classifications should be assigned.
  • Create, revise, review, and audit job descriptions for accuracy and consistency. Collaborate with Organizational Design in helping organizations determine the type of role needed to fit their needs.
  • Review new and existing classifications to ensure jobs are appropriately classified and graded. Modify and create descriptions to reflect current roles, responsibilities, and requirements, working collaboratively with Institute stakeholders. Approve changes in exemption status.
  • Provide equitable and consistent compensation consultation and support, enhancing classification, compensation structures, and policies.
  • Management of compensation structures/wage grades. The ability to analyze jobs using both market and internal data determines the appropriate wage grade within the proper structure. Keep structures updated and communicate with all partners.
  • Manage the library of job descriptions across all functions and create/maintain the job profile setup in ERP. Update documentation around job architecture/leveling guidance for all jobs.
  • Partner closely with HR and organization leaders to review and process classification, job description, and job profile requests. Identify opportunities and implement process improvements.
  • Partner with the Compensation Team on providing guidance to the organization and developing creative solutions on a variety of total compensation issues, including the setting of appropriate pay levels, base pay, incentives, and awards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Technical Diploma, Associate's Degree in a related discipline, or two years college course work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Two or more years of job-related experience - with two plus years in human resources

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Certifications, Licenses or Permits:
Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) certification

Proposed Salary

Pay Range: $63,303-$75,000/yr.
