Our client, a global leader,is looking for a Financial Controller for the US. The Financial Controller will play a key role within the finance team, providing proactive leadership and expertise in overseeing accounting, financial close, and financial reporting. This position will be responsible for financial analysis, technical research, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information and reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take primary ownership and lead the review of the quarterly and annual financial statements for US GAAP
  • Responsible for US NAIC Statutory (STAT) stand-alone reporting.
  • Review monthly and quarterly accounting entries, supporting documentation, and control documentation for both US GAAP and US STAT, including quarterly reconciliation reviews.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure accurate consolidation of entities and intercompany relationships.
  • Oversee relationships with key external professional services firms
  • Lead and manage internal and external financial statement audits, regulatory exams by insurance departments, and tax compliance audits.
  • Investigate and report on errors and inconsistencies in financial entries and documentation.
  • Champion a strong control environment, ensuring adherence.
  • Serve as a key member of the broader North American Finance leadership team, contributing to the direction and implementation of the Finance strategy.
  • Provide expertise and guidance to various Boards and Committees
  • Act as a subject matter expert in accounting and reporting for company-wide strategic initiatives, including modernization, regulatory changes, and growth opportunities.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of senior financial analysts and specialists.

Key Attributes:

  • Strong technical expertise in US GAAP and STAT, with a focus on STAT reporting.
  • In-depth understanding of reinsurance and reserving principles.
  • Experience in P&C Insurance is preferred.

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
