Job Summary:

Located within the central Office of Human Resources (OHR), the Compensation Center of Excellence (CCoE) helps the university attract, recruit, retain, and develop employees by providing consultative compensation services. The CCoE develops strategies to ensure the university remains a competitive market-informed employer. While the CCoE primarily offers its strategic services to HR professionals and campus leadership, its data analysis informs the decision-making process which impacts employees. This collaborative model aligns with OHR's current operating framework and relationship with campus (including local HR professionals across our schools, colleges, and divisions).

The HR Coordinator assists the CCoE team by reviewing and processing HR transactions, creating and maintaining various HR specific reports, auditing and tracking compliance for various HR functions, and serving as a point of contact to HR professionals at our schools, colleges, and divisions.


Responsibilities:
Creates and maintains human resources (HR) records, coordinates logistics for one or many HR functions, disseminates HR communications, and processes various HR specific transactions to ensure compliance with established rules and regulations

  • 20% Creates and maintains various HR specific reports, databases, and/or records to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and legal rules and regulations
  • 30% Enters, reviews, and processes HR transactions according to established policies and procedures
  • 5% Schedules logistics and secures resources for recruitment processes, onboarding activities, payroll functions, and/or other HR related activities
  • 15% Serves as a point of contact to employees, managers, and internal and external stakeholders. Responds to inquiries and escalates more complex issues to the appropriate authorities
  • 15% Audits and tracks compliance for various HR functions such as performance evaluations, onboarding, off boarding, criminal background checks, and credentialing
  • 15% Provide administrative support and coordination for projects

Qualifications:

Required:
- Prior experience working in an administrative role in a professional office setting. Experience in professional internships may be considered as prior experience
- Ability to learn and apply human resource laws, principles, and practices including policies and procedures specific to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Compensation Center of Excellence (CCoE), and the Office of Human Resources (OHR)
- Proficiency in use of database, spreadsheet, and word processing software such as Microsoft Office, Google, and Adobe products
- Ability to plan and establish priorities, organize, and execute varied and complex tasks while maintaining a high level of attention to detail
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
- Capacity to complete time-sensitive and high-volume work responsibilities
- Ability to work independently and part of a team
- Experience with developing and sustaining collaborative work relationships

Preferred:
- Experience in human resources or related field
- Experience in a higher education institution or government agency
- Experience using HR systems such as Peoplesoft, Workday, or similar enterprise resource planning software systems

Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.


Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 24 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding


Salary:

Minimum $22.60 HOURLY
Depending on Qualifications
Actual pay is determined at hire and is based on experience and qualifications.
