Job Overview
The Quality Control Inspector (QCI) will ensure the organization complies with applicable company and customer requirements including federal, state, and local procedures, codes, regulations and requirements established in customer contracts. The QCI will accomplish this by conducting inspections on various company performed work activities including preventive, corrective unplanned, and FixIt Work Orders, as well as inspections on work conducted by subcontractors. Additionally, the QCI will conduct other inspections and audits as directed including process audits, contract compliance audits, QMS audits, and audits/inspections of other company and contract related activities. The QCI will conduct continuous improvement activities including but not limited to corrective and preventive actions, training, and assessing customer feedback. Pay Rate: $39.16/hourly Work Model: Onsite/In-Office
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Inspects both work in progress and completed tasks for discrepancies / deficiencies in accordance with the Quality Management System documents (manuals, plans, procedures, instructions, etc.), contract requirements, and other applicable requirements.
- Inspects work in progress and completed contracted services for discrepancies in accordance with the Quality Management System documents (manuals, plans, procedures, instructions, etc.), defined scopes of work, and other contractual requirements.
- Identifies and evaluates nonconforming work and services (including contracted services and purchased materials) and issues discrepancies and/or corrective actions and preventive actions (CAPA), as appropriate. In some cases, the assistance of technical personnel or management may be required to adequately evaluate a nonconformity.
- Initiates CAPA through the Quality Program Manager (QPM) or Quality Supervisor (QS) to address significant issues. The QCI may participate in all stages of the CAPA including, but not limited to, issuance to the appropriate problem owner (including subcontractors), monitoring CAPA for completion, verifying CAPA are adequate to resolve the identified root cause, and assisting with the maintenance of relevant records.
- Assists staff and subcontractors, as required, in the completion of CAPA by providing a clear explanation of findings and providing guidance regarding the CAPA process.
- Participates in audits to assist the QC Auditor in executing the audit plan and follows the instructions of the QC Auditor to ensure audit execution is consistent with industry standard management system auditing principles and techniques (e.g. ISO 19011, etc.)
- Assists with audit execution, to ensure processes, services/work, and documentation comply with contractual, company, and other applicable requirements.
- Assists the QPM or QS with the development, implementation and maintenance of appropriate Quality Control measurements focused on industry standard continuous improvement principles.
- Assists with the development, implementation and maintenance of Quality policies and procedures designed to ensure customer expectations are defined, understood and effectively achieved.
- Assists the QPM or QS in developing procedures, instructions, forms, reports, and other documents.
- Assists QPM or QS in preparation and execution of weekly Government QC meetings and other meetings as required, including preparing documents and data, actively attending and participating in the meetings, and recording minutes.
- Assists QPM or QS in the execution of incident investigations, as required, including the collection of facts, data, artifacts, and other information related to the incident. Develops timelines, completes elements of the incident investigation report, and provides supporting documents.
- Generates Quality data resulting from inspections, audits, investigations, or other Quality work to facilitate data analysis, continual improvement, and problem identification.
- Provides guidance and direction, including hands on training for all new QC Inspectors as required.
- Conducts facility/building inspections to identify problems and nonconformities. Ensures the items identified are resolved including issuing Corrective Unplanned work orders.
- Maintains records established to document inspections, audits, and other QC activities.
- Will be required to operate customer and company owned motor vehicles and/or other equipment.
- Will be required to perform various lower classified duties such as (but not limited to) file maintenance, workspace cleanup, maintain warehouse space and telephone answering as required.
- Supports other department staff as needed or directed.
- Assists other trade groups in daily operations where required.
- Strictly adheres to the established company safety and personnel policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned in support of contractual obligations and customer service.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- High School Graduate or equivalent GED.
- Five (5) years of experience in a maintenance/construction specific trade such as HVAC, Electrical or Plumbing.
- Associates Degree in a related field and three (3) years of work experience in a maintenance/construction specific trade such as HVAC, Electrical or Plumbing.
- Familiarity with federal and state regulations, codes and guidelines for trades work.
- Ability to read and interpret requirements in order to inspect/audit them for conformity.
- Experience conducting data entry in spreadsheet or database software, filling out electronic forms, disseminating information using email, and writing reports using word processing software (preferred software Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook).
- Experience maintaining records in both hardcopy and electronic file storage.
- Ability to clearly communicate observations and findings both verbally and in writing.
- Familiarity with basic mathematical functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide, etc.) and simple statistics (averages, percentages, trends, etc.).
- Familiarity with basic safety equipment used to perform various types of trades work.
- Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diverse situations.
- Mature judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Able to work in various indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
- Medically and physically able to wear a respirator.
- Ability to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance.
- Valid state driver's license.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and team lift 75 pounds.
