Job DescriptionThe Cybersecurity Analyst for TSTC is responsible for protecting the TSTC network, systems, and data from cyber threats and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This position monitors security events, investigates incidents, implements security measures, and provides cybersecurity awareness training to staff and students. This role is crucial in safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our information assets. This position will be available and respond to Severity I incidents during and outside of normal business hours.

The salary range for this position is $64,525 - $74,203.78

The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Please Note: This is a hybrid position that requires travel to one of our TSTC locations

Essential Functions:

* Core Values Demonstration: Consistently embody TSTC Core Values (Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity) when interacting with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students, and the community.
* Monitoring and Detection: Continuously monitor network traffic, security logs, and system alerts to detect potential security incidents. Analyze and investigate security events to identify threats and vulnerabilities.
* Incident Response: Lead or assist in incident response activities as an on-call point of contact, including containment, eradication, and recovery efforts. Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to mitigate the impact of security incidents.
* Security Controls Implementation: Implement and maintain security controls and technologies to protect against unauthorized access, malware, and other cyber threats. This includes firewall configurations, intrusion detection/prevention systems, endpoint protection, and encryption mechanisms.
* Vulnerability Management: Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses in systems and applications. Develop remediation plans and work with system owners to address identified vulnerabilities.
* Perform advanced security event detection, threat hunting, and analysis for complex and/or escalated security events and automation of security tools.
* Security Policy and Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant cybersecurity policies, regulations, and standards (e.g., HIPAA, FERPA, GDPR). Assist in the development and enforcement of security policies and procedures.
* Security Awareness Training: Develop and deliver cybersecurity awareness training programs for faculty, staff, and students. Promote best practices for password management, phishing awareness, and data protection.
* Security Incident Documentation: Maintain accurate records of security incidents, investigations, and remediation efforts. Prepare incident reports and recommendations for improving security posture.
* Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments of new and existing systems to identify potential security risks and recommend mitigation strategies. Collaborate with IT teams and business units to prioritize risk reduction efforts.

Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills

* Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Bachelor's degree preferred

* Advanced certifications such as CEH, Security +, or Network +

* 1-3 years' proven experience in cybersecurity roles, preferably in a higher education or research environment.
* Strong understanding of network security principles, protocols, and technologies.
* Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
* Proficiency in security tools and technologies, including SIEM, IDS/IPS, DLP, and endpoint security solutions.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and respond to security incidents effectively.
* Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
* Commitment to staying updated on the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and best practices.

This position will primarily be based in a remote office environment, with occasional travel to different campus locations. The role may require working outside of regular business hours to respond to security incidents as required.
