This position is responsible for engaging with business subject matter experts and process owners to understand business issues and elicit, analyze, and validate business requirements for large and/or complex automation projects. Develops consistent, complete, correct, and operationally defined functional and non-functional requirements.

Position Compensation Range:

$86,000.00 - $142,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

This is a Hybrid position where you will need to be in the office a minimum of 10 days per month. These offices are located in Madison, WI and Boston, MA.

Primary Accountabilities


  • You will participate with the business in the creation/completion of project charters for automation projects.
  • We determine how to capture and document requirements based on the development methodology used for the business system.
  • We develop the our requirements by translating the needs, expectations, constraints and interfaces into a format understandable to both clients and technologists.
  • You will develop requirements for solution and solution component design.
  • We obtain requirements that result from architectural/design decisions.
  • We define quality attributes, constraints and other non-functional requirements.
  • We evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
  • You will analyze requirements to determine whether they satisfy the objectives of higher level requirements.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements


  • We need demonstrated experience providing customer-focused solutions or support
  • We need demonstrated experience defining technical SDLC requirements for moderately complex IT projects using a variety of graphical and textual techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience consulting on the development of test strategies and plans for medium to large IT projects.
  • Demonstrated experience using multiple facilitation techniques and other methods to elicit and document requirements and resolve conflicts among project partners.
  • Demonstrated experience with multiple modeling techniques/tools used to convey and gain agreement regarding requirements.
  • Experience with system development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies. (e.g. Waterfall, Iterative, Agile).
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of system architecture and system engineering processes.
  • Experience with infrastructure technologies, operating systems, and the interconnectivity between infrastructure platforms and software tools.
  • Solid knowledge of general business operations and strategies.
