Security Engineer Internship (Secure Development Lifecycle / Offensive Security)

We're seeking individuals excited about applying their skills in penetration testing on embedded products while continuing to grow and apply new techniques to secure Juniper products that power the digital world.

As part of the SDL team, your mission will be to ensure that all Juniper products are secure and safe to operate in their intended environments. This includes performing penetration testing on both hardware and software products in our portfolio, creating reference designs and code for software and firmware security features, and conducting original research. Additionally, you'll play a key role in evangelizing security engineering practices across the company, working on both short-term and long-term goals with a high tolerance for ambiguity.

Successful Security Engineer Intern candidates must:



  • Be in enrolled in a Master's, or PhD program, preferably in Computer Science/Computer Engineering with specialization in Cybersecurity, graduating December 2025 or later.
  • Programming experience in the following but not limited to : C/C++, Java, Python, Go, Rust
  • Strong knowledge of Linux and FreeBSD kernel, hypervisor design, virtualization and architecture
  • A genuine passion for building effective and pragmatic security



Preferred qualifications for this role include:



  • Proven track record of finding zero days/CVEs
  • Cybersecurity-related certification
  • Strong scripting skills in one or more of the common languages (e.g., Python, shell scripting)
  • Strong understanding of past, current, and emerging security exploits
  • Knowledge of threat modeling or other risk identification techniques
  • Industry exposure to and knowledge of Cloud security, Network security and Applied cryptography
  • Knowledge of network and web related protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, IPSEC, HTTP, BGP and other routing protocols)
  • Experience and understanding of AWS or GCP products and services, and Cloud orchestration technologies like Kubernetes, OpenStack, Microservices, Docker
  • Understanding of Web Application Security and SDN/NFV space

Minimum Salary: $84,000.80

Maximum Salary:$120,750.55

The pay range for this position is expected to be between $84,000.80 and $120,750.55/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Juniper's pay range data is provided in accordance with local state pay transparency regulations. Juniper may post different minimum wage ranges for permanent residency petitions pursuant to US Department of Labor requirements.
