Data Platform Manager

SUMMARY: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Data Platform Manager to lead our data architecture and data engineering initiatives. This role will focus on modernizing the Bank's data infrastructure to meet the evolving requirements and use cases for data that will be derived through various interactions with internal business stakeholders as well as the broader Data Community. This role aligns data strategy with business goals/outcomes and in doing so will work cross-functionally to drive innovation, compliance, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ETL, ELT, and other data automation methodologies, data architecture, as well as a deep understanding of cloud-native infrastructure and data services (ideally AWS).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.

Data Architecture:



  • Design and implement scalable and secure data architectures that meet the bank's business needs and regulatory requirements.


Data Engineering:



  • Oversee the development and maintenance of ETL processes, ensuring efficient data ingestion, transformation, and delivery using industry-standard tools and methodologies.
  • Ensure robust data pipeline processes for systems, ensuring seamless data integration across platforms.


Cloud Data Services:



  • Utilize AWS cloud data services to optimize data processing and storage solutions.
  • Cultivate a culture of self-service analytics by enabling business users to access and analyze data independently.


Data Transformation/Automation:



  • Lead initiatives to automate data workflows and improve data quality and consistency across the organization.


Collaboration:



  • Act as a liaison between business lines, IT, and compliance teams to align data initiatives with strategic objectives.
  • Use Agile or hybrid methodologies to deliver data solutions on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architects to design scalable and secure data solutions that meet regulatory requirements.


Innovation:



  • Stay updated on emerging trends in data management, cloud computing, and analytics to recommend continuous improvements and apply best practices to enhance data capabilities


Compliance:



  • Ensure adherence to data privacy laws, banking regulations, and internal data governance policies.
  • Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.).
  • Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training.
  • Identifies and reports suspicious activity.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Supervises function, projects or services and/or one or more employees, as applicable.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance coaching; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.



EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree required Master's degree is a plus

EXPERIENCE



  • 7+ years of experience in data architecture or engineering, with 2+ years in a management role
  • Experience with data analysis, business intelligence, and/or data visualization tools and techniques
  • Proven track record of cultivating a self-service analytics culture within a banking environment
  • Hands-on experience with ETL tools (eg, Informatica, Talend, SSIS) and cloud-based data warehouses (eg, Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift)
  • Expertise in implementing reliable data versioning techniques to enhance data quality
  • Experience working with large language models (LLMs) or similar generative AI technologies is a +
  • Experience with data security and compliance requirements in financial institutions
  • Experience in the banking or financial services industry preferred



CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS



  • AWS or other cloud provider certifications is a plus
  • PMP, CSM, or other project management certifications are a plus.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES



  • Knowledge of business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Quicksight) and reporting frameworks is a plus
  • Strong understanding of data architecture principles and modern data engineering practices.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native infrastructure services (ideally in AWS; for example, ec2, s3, IAM, etc.) and IaC (infrastructure as code) ideally Terraform
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native data services (ideally in AWS; for example, EMR, Athena, Glue, Redshift, etc.)
  • Knowledge of data modeling, metadata management, and data cataloging
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other scripting languages used in data processing.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to drive change and innovation within an organization.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of data governance and data privacy regulations.
  • Familiarity with Agile or hybrid project management methodologies.
