Job Description:

The Manager of Data Analytics is responsible for leading a team of Analytics and Metrics Specialists, overseeing data collection and interpretation, governance, workflow automation, development, reporting and providing actionable insights to support business decisions. This role requires a high level of interpersonal skills, technical acumen, advanced analytics skills, leadership abilities, and innovative competencies to partner with various levels of departmental disciples to define and advance the company's objectives.

Responsibilities:



  • Design, plan and manage the execution of business metrics and analytics transformation initiatives
  • Drive reporting functionality and business insights from data analysis. Provide actionable recommendations based on analysis of the data that will result in operational improvement, , customer satisfaction and streamline existing processes and workflows


  • Define and manage analytics project scope, timelines and deliverables; maintain detailed documentation of all projects and initiatives and report to senior leadership on status


  • Evaluate sales and account management platforms to improve outcomes related to lead generation, service deliverables, and new business development
  • Develop staff to respond to current and anticipated needs of the department as well as determining career development goals of individuals on the team
  • Provide ongoing coaching and direction to all members of the staff; provide consultative guidance to internal and external parties utilizing produced analytics and reporting
  • Provide business and technical expertise for the analytics process, tools and applications for PMAMC. Serve as the champion to advanced analytics and ensure the coordination of data and analytics into the decision making process.
  • Partner with other PMA leaders from other functions to contribute to large-scale strategic projects as well as ongoing operational activities from a data perspective

  • Analyze the business KPIs and metrices that help to drive effective decision making of the claims, sales and service functions
  • Oversee the production and distribution of weekly, monthly and ad hoc senior management reports and presentations


  • Provide guidance on data analysis and techniques, ensuring accuracy, consistency and quality of the work product used for business intelligence and reporting
  • Partner with business leaders to identify key business questions and areas of opportunity for data driven insight, and translate complex findings into clear, concise and impactful recommendations


  • Administers salary and personnel programs under guidance of the Vice President of Business Solutions and other executive leadership in the organization
  • Develop staff to respond to current and anticipated needs of the department as well as determining career development goals of individuals on the team
  • Utilizes performance management process effectively and on an ongoing basis, to maximize the performance of employees, administer personnel programs, provide career development opportunities, and promote effective communication with employees
  • Understands business objectives and utilizes that knowledge to lead process improvement initiatives to maximize internal efficiency and improve client experience


  • Ensure the highest level of customer services across the strategic initiative and business insight teams. Promote ongoing spirit of collaboration, teamwork and engagement with all areas
  • Identifies and recommends opportunities to increase effectiveness and efficiency with focus on driving the standardization, optimization, automation of analytics strategy
  • Oversee the design, implementation and best practices of SharePoint sites, PowerApps, and workflow automation, and other integrated technological platforms to enhance user experience, streamline processes and drive efficiency
  • Promote effective communication among and between work groups and between management and employees.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging analytical tools and methodologies to drive continuous improvements
  • Demonstrate commitment to Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, and apply knowledge of compliance policies and procedures, standards and laws applicable to job responsibilities in the performance of work.

Requirements:

Qualifications:



  • BS in Mathematics, Economics, Business, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics or equivalent professional experience, typically defined as 5+ years, in the insurance industry is required
  • Master of Mathematics, Statistics, Actuary Sciences, or other advanced degree is preferred
  • Experience with analytics in the commercial casualty insurance industry, with emphasis in Workers' Compensation required
  • Demonstrated experience managing, leading, coaching and developing a team of analytics professionals is preferred
  • Excellent customer service and collaboration skills gained through previous work experience
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Product Suite, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Excellent Excel, MS Access, HTML, SQL, VBA, and Power BI is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Sharepoint 365/Sharepoint Online platform functionality strongly preferred
  • Solid understanding of communication and collaboration technologies
  • Experience with data visualization tools
  • Exceptional project management skills
  • Ability to challenge status quo and work under ambiguous circumstances
  • Ability to work in a matrixed environment and to work and collaborate with others considering the needs of all affected groups
  • Solid ability to build and leverage relationships across functions and the organization to achieve business results
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with multiple levels of senior management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally to all levels within the company and with external parties is essential
  • Decisive and organizational attributes; clear and conceptual thinking ability with excellent judgment, troubleshooting, problem solving, analysis, and discretion
  • Ability to travel for business purposes; approximately 15%
