Director of Accounting
Dallas, TX- Hybrid 2-3 days onsite (outside of close)

Compensation: $140k-$150k + bonus

Position Summary:
One of Vaco's large Healthcare clients is looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Director of Accounting to oversee the accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have their CPA with strong leadership experience and a deep understanding of financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls. Experience in the healthcare industry is a plus. This position requires someone with exceptional technical expertise and a proven track record of driving operational efficiency in an accounting department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the overall accounting function, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and financial reporting.
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Coordinate and prepare for external audits, ensuring all necessary documentation and support are provided to auditors.
  • Review and monitor the accuracy of financial statements, general ledger entries, and trial balances.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to the accounting team, fostering professional development and enhancing team performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments, including finance, operations, and senior management, to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
  • Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide recommendations for cost control and efficiency improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, overseeing the preparation of tax filings, including corporate income tax, sales tax, and property tax returns.
  • Monitor internal controls and implement corrective actions when needed to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy of financial information.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting regulations, industry trends, and best practices, particularly as they relate to the healthcare industry.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA certification required.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry is preferred, but not required.
  • In-depth understanding of internal controls, financial audits, and compliance.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;
  • office location and other geographic considerations;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
