JOB SUMMARY The Security Officer is an un-armed position serving as the point of contact for security related issues. This position also patrols on foot and in vehicles industrial and commercial premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates surrounding the Pacific Spaceport Complex-Alaska (PSCA) on Kodiak Island and an off-axis site in King Salmon, Alaska. Security Officers are on staff 24/7 and are expected to perform shift work providing physical security during operational and non-operational periods commensurate with the classification of information and equipment to be protected. *This position is Pending Contract Award ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Monitor and authorize site access, entrance and departures of employees and visitors.
- Provide physical security during equipment transport (arrival of barge at port or C-17 at Kodiak Airport)
- Respond to emergencies and crimes in progress, coordinate with local law enforcement, call fire department and report emergencies.
- Establish Cordons, Entry Control Points, Traffic Control Points, use the Incident Command System
- Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
- Write reports of daily activities and irregularities such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Provide security support based on the designated schedule produce by AAC or Wholly Owned Subsidiary (ALS).
- Actively man assigned guard posts and assigned location.
- Follow security related SOPs.
- Monitor traffic on base and make traffic stops accordingly.
- Report any suspicious activity.
- Investigate reported crimes.
- Participate in random drug testing program.
- Participate in company training.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Intermediate knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
- Knowledge of security and patrolling best practices; ability to perform related tasks.
- Ability to professionally interact with others during posts (GCMS, ECP and Guard Post).
- Basic to intermediate computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs.
- Ability to enter data accurately into databases.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to work in an ethical, professional, and responsive manner.
- Must be familiar with standard investigative techniques and methodologies.
- Ability to collect data, discern facts, and draw valid conclusions from information received.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff.
- Must be able to operate in a way that is ethical, responsible and professional.
- Ability to handle confidential information and not disclose it.
- Effective oral and technical written communication skills to effectively and clearly communicate complex information in high pressure, emergency situations to others.
- Ability to use general office equipment such as fax, phone, copier, etc.
- Ability to follow a process.
- Ability to stay calm in stressful situations.
- Strong professional customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data and consider decision impact across multiple areas with limited information in high stress situations and environments.
- Strong decision analysis and problem-solving skills; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions. Must be able to communicate issues to management and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical computations, detect unobvious facts and issues, and exercise resourcefulness in resolving problems.
- Must be able to read a map and navigate accordingly.
- Ability to multi-task.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid state driver's license
- Must be able to perform shift work.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance (SECRET).
- Must pass drug and background screening.
