WORK SHIFT

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Greets employees/customers in a friendly and welcome manner.
2. Enters purchases into cash register to calculate total purchase price.
3. Accepts cash, checks, or bankcards for payment; completes check and bankcard transactions according to established procedure.
4. Counts money, gives change and issues receipt for funds received.
5. Maintains sufficient amounts of change in cash drawer.
6. Balances cash drawer and receipts; documents discrepancies.
7. Keeps register area neat and stocked with necessary supplies.
8. Keeps retail area clean, orderly and presentable.
9. Assists in training new cashiers, as directed.
10. Assists in the kitchen and cafeteria with items such as clean-up, stocking, as needed.
11. Performs other related tasks, as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* Education equivalent to a High School diploma and 3 months of related experience.
* Current Food Handler's Permit.
* The ability to read, write and speak English, and perform basic arithmetic, typically acquired through a high school diploma.
* Ability to operate the cash register and credit card equipment.
* Ability to be self-motivated and do what needs to be done.
* Ability to work as a member of a team.

Experience as a cashier

COMPETENCIES

* Math skills
* Ability to communicate and interact positively with the public
* Reading, writing and communication skills (in English)
* Operation of credit card equipment and cash register

COMMENTS

The risk category explains whether or not employees are likely to come into contact with blood or body fluids while performing their jobs. Risk category II states employment and procedures that may require exposure.
