Milwaukee Mobile Crisis Clinician Intern

Behavioral Health Services

Expected Hourly Pay: $15.00

Part-Time Internship

On-site clinical supervision provided

Job Summary: We are seeking to create TWO internship opportunities working with the Milwaukee Mobile Crisis (MMC) team. The interns will provide community-based treatment to individuals. The interns will receive clinical supervision from licensed psychologists and/or Behavioral Health Emergency Services Clinicians (BHESC).

Job Responsibilities:



  • Assessment - Conduct psychiatric and psychosocial assessments, as well as evaluate danger to self and others in children and adults with significant mental health and co-occurring needs.
  • Crisis Intervention - Intervene and manage the acute crisis phase of mental illness in the community. De-escalate, stabilize, and resolve mental health crisis events (may include remaining with the individual in their community setting until stabilized and linked with other services).
  • Stabilize and Link - Effectively reduce any danger to self or others by providing therapeutic interventions, arranging for immediate services, and connecting to services/supports in the community until the danger is eliminated and the person is engaged in therapeutic services.
  • Crisis Plan and Follow-Up - Implement plan of care by utilizing psychotherapeutic interventions, related to crisis assessment as well as the development of a crisis plan. Provide follow up contact to ensure intervention plans developed during the crisis are successful.
  • Routine Supervision - Receive ongoing scheduled supervision from a licensed staff member.
  • Other Duties - Provide support to other internal Behavioral Health Services (BHS) Crisis Programs, external contracted programs, and telephone triage. Participate in community engagement and outreach. Perform all other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements:



  • Current resident of Wisconsin.
  • Possession of a Valid United States Driver's License, able maintained throughout employment.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Education, or a closely related field.
  • Currently enrolled in a Master's or Doctoral Degree program in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a closely related field.
  • Able and willing to travel, 50% of work time within community utilizing County vehicles.
  • Able to lift/carry and push/pull up to 25lbs as needed.


NOTE: This original application is open to permanent residents of the United States. Appointee must establish residency in the state of Wisconsin within six months of start date and maintain such residency during incumbency. In accordance with Section 11, Rule 3 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position. The non-competitive examination will consist of criteria deemed appropriate by the Director of Human Resources.

Hourly Pay Range: $14.21 - $21.73
