This R&D Clinical Research Senior Lab Associate position is an opportunity to be a member of the Biobank team in Westbrook, Maine. In this position, you will be supporting cutting-edge research projects that enhance the ability of veterinarians to provide advanced medical care throughout the United States and over 175 countries worldwide.

This role provides on the ground support for sample collection, processing, organization and management following established standard operating procedures. Newly acquired biobanking software is used to maintain records of sample metadata and processing history, as well as monitor and fill sample requisitions from across IDEXX. The biobank also collaborates with multiple R&D teams to create and maintain inventories of study-specific collection kits, and ensure critical materials are shipped out for in-the-field studies. This role reports directly to the biobank manager.

What you need to succeed:
  • You value working at the highest levels of accuracy, safety and quality.

  • You are able to understand and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures.

  • You are familiar with the use of computers and software that is key to maintaining records and tracking inventory.

  • You are someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment, and maintains a positive can-do attitude.

  • You are able to prioritize and multi-task, and gauge when it's time to ask for help.

  • You are a good communicator, able to interact with others at different levels. This may occasionally require customer-facing communication.

  • You are able to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab - standing and sitting for extended periods of time, extended reach, lifting up to 50 lbs, and specific vision ability - close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • This is a laboratory, so there is potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals. All relevant training will be provided.

Veterinary technicians, individuals with experience working in a veterinary clinic or have prior laboratory experience are encouraged to apply!

Schedule:

This is a full time (40 hour/week), hourly day shift position. The shifts and hours may vary slighting depending on business needs, and there may be some flexibility as long as hours worked are day-shift. Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of this position.
