Overview

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS), a premier provider of ordnance weapons and tactical systems to the U.S. Department of Defense and allied nations, has an opening for an onsite Programs Manager III to join our St. Petersburg, FL Team.

Summary:

Plans, direct, and coordinate the activities of complex programs to ensure that goals and objectives of the program are accomplished within the prescribed time frame, budget parameters and quality standards from inception to completion.

Project Planning and Execution:

    Develops detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, resource allocation, and budgets.
  • Manages project execution, ensuring adherence to plans and addressing any issues or changes proactively.
  • Identifies and manages project risks and implements mitigation strategies.
  • Oversees project deliverables, ensuring they meet quality standards and stakeholder expectations.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Acts as a primary point of contact for project stakeholders, including clients, cross-functional teams, and management.
  • Manages stakeholder expectations and communicates project status effectively.
  • Facilitates project meetings and ensures clear communication and alignment among team members.

Resource Management:

  • Manages project resources, including personnel, equipment, and budget.
  • Assigns tasks and responsibilities to team members and provides guidance and support.
  • Monitors resource utilization and makes adjustments as needed to ensure project success.

Project Monitoring and Control:

  • Tracks project progress and identifies potential issues or risks.
  • Monitors project budgets and ensures adherence to financial constraints.
  • Develops and implements contingency plans to address potential problems.
  • Prepares and presents project status reports to stakeholders.

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Leads and motivates project teams to achieve project goals.
  • Provides guidance and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
  • May supervise or mentor other project managers or team members.

Other Duties:

  • May be involved in developing and designing new projects.
  • May coordinate with other work streams, projects, and initiatives.
  • May be responsible for ensuring adherence to project management methodologies and best practices.


Major Position Responsibilities

  • Has P&L responsibilities for a specific program.
  • Implements and administers one or more corporate programs, typically consisting of multiple programs or sub-programs.
  • Executes programs that meet the needs of the organization or its employees or customers.
  • Participates in all aspects of corporate programs, including planning, budgeting, staffing, and performance.
  • Promotes the program throughout the organization and tracks utilization.
  • Supervises the work of program or project staff to ensure that work in completed on time or in accordance with established standards or specifications.
  • Evaluates program effectiveness by collecting and analyzing data in support of key performance metrics.
  • Ensures that activities are in compliance with organizational policies and any relevant external regulations.
  • Provides reports and updates to senior management or other stakeholders.


Basic Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree OR equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
  • 5-7 years experience relevant to the positions functional area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (preferred)
  • Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) or other relevant project management certifications are often preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in project management software and tools. Earned Value Management experience highly preferred
  • Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Other: Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Other Requirements:

  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential

  • 25% travel likely
