Job Overview

The Employee Relations Specialist provides employees relations support to leaders and team members, by researching and resolving issues, providing advice and guidance on external employment regulations and internal HR policies, and conducting investigations into team member grievances.

Job Status: Hybrid (on-site and remote), 40 hours per week, eligible for benefits
Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree
  • Experience: Three years of experience in employee relations
  • Equivalency: Additional experience can be substituted for the minimum education requirement on a one-for-one year basis.
Responsibilities

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE

  • No direct patient care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Serves as a point of contact for leaders and team members to provide timely and effective employee relations support, including coaching, discipline, performance management, policy interpretation, and involuntary terminations.
  • Completes intake, researches, responds, and resolves routine to complex employee relations issues and hotline complaints, demonstrating a proactive approach, maintaining a productive and respectful work environment, and handling sensitive situations with empathy and discretion.
  • Develops and implements employee relations strategies in coordination with HR Business Partner and operations to improve workplace culture and employee engagement.
  • Conducts comprehensive investigations and provides clear and accurate interpretations of company policies and labor laws.
  • Prepares responses to complex unemployment cases, representing CHCO as needed in hearings, and responds to routine EEO/DOL charges.
  • Partners with appropriate parties regarding ADA or other accommodation escalations between team members and leaders in coordination with appropriate centers of excellence that manage ADA or other LOA process.
  • Maintains thorough and accurate documentation of all employee relations case management activities and report on trends.
  • Monitors and synthesizes feedback mechanisms, such as surveys or exit interviews, and recommends actionable improvements.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing human resources. Interprets and explains human resources policies, procedures, and rules to leaders and team members.
  • Performs research into legislation and drafts recommendations for policy changes to align to legislation.

SCOPE & LEVEL

  • Guidelines: Guidelines are generally numerous, well established, and directly applicable to the work assignment. Work assignment and desired results are explained by general oral or written instructions.
  • Complexity: Falls between the entry and full performance/senior level. Duties assigned are generally repetitive and restricted in scope but may be of substantial intricacy. Employee primarily applies standardized practices.
  • Decision Making: Decisions or recommendations on non-standardized situations are limited to relating organizational policies to specific cases. Brings non routine issues to supervisor. Problems that are not covered by guidelines or that are without precedent are taken up with the supervisor.
  • Communications: Contacts with team members, clients or the public where explanatory or interpretive information is exchanged, gathered, or presented and some degree of discretion and judgment are required within the parameters of the job function.
  • Supervision Received: Under normal supervision, within a standardized work situation, the employee performs duties common to the line of work without close supervision or detailed instruction. Work product is subject to continual review.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $71,040.18 to $106,560.27
Hourly Salary Range: $34.15 to $51.23
