The Jule Museum is looking for Auburn University students for the position of Student Guide to serve as tour guides, public facilitators, and peer-to-peer leaders for the museum on campus. Student Guides engage with a diverse range of campus and community audiences in thinking about art and ideas. They warmly engage the public in the galleries, research upcoming exhibitions, and work with PreK-12, community, and university audiences.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing materials for class sessions
- Facilitating activities
- Supervising PreK-12 students
Guides will learn about art and art making, develop new programs and projects, and learn more about careers in museums through hands-on experience.
The ideal candidates are eager to develop their skills as communicators and researchers. Experience with art and art history is not a pre-requisite.

Essential Functions |
- Support the Curatorial and Academic Affairs team with public engagements
- Serve as a gallery guide, engaging with guests as appropriate and conducting tours
- Research collection objects and upcoming exhibitions
- Write interpretive material to support audience engagement
- Prototype and prepare materials for hands-on activities
- Supervise students while they attend museum classes
- Develop strengths as a public speaker, educator, and facilitator for PreK-12, college, and adult audiences
Schedule:
- Operational hours are 9:45 am - 4:45 pm Tuesday - Sunday; Thursday until 8:00 pm
- Student Guide hours revolve around on-site and off-site programming, with opportunities for remote work
- Work Hours: average 10 hours weekly, with max. of 20 hours per week
- A mix of weekday and weekend availability is required

Minimum Qualifications |
Currently enrolled as an Auburn University undergraduate student
Expectations:
- Able to work under tight deadlines
- Interest in developing skills as a public speaker, educator, and facilitator for PreK-12, college, or adult audiences

Experience interacting with or teaching K12 students, experience with public speaking |
