Orthotics residents, are specifically educated and trained to manage comprehensive orthotic patient care. Their duties include assessing patients, formulating treatment plans, designing and fabricating orthopedic devices based on patient needs and physician prescriptions, and conducting follow-up sessions. Orthotic residents support patients in device usage instructions and device repair and maintenance under the supervision of a Certified Orthotist.
This residency is an NCOPE accredited residency program. It is a 12-month per discipline, or an 18-month dual discipline, supervised program in a comprehensive orthotic accredited facility. The NCOPE accredited residency program allows you to acquire practical clinical training in orthotics which is part of the overall education required for ABC Orthotist Certification. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
WORKING CONDITIONS: This job is in a fast-paced setting with equal division between patient care, technical work and computers. Patient care tasks will include; frequent bending, lifting, twisting, to include moving the patient on and off an exam table to measure and fit devices as well as shifting the patient on the exam table.
