Description

Medica's Principal UI Designer will lead the creation of cutting-edge digital experiences across various platforms, including websites, mobile applications, and more. This role is intended for an experienced digital design leader who excels at crafting high-fidelity designs, driving design strategy, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver visually stunning, user-centric digital products. You will be at the forefront of shaping the visual identity of our digital experiences, working closely with product managers, engineers, and UX professionals to create intuitive, engaging, and effective designs.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Creative Leadership:Lead and inspire a team of designers to create visually compelling, user-friendly digital experiences across websites, mobile applications, and other omnichannel customer touchpoints.
  • Collaboration:Work closely with cross-functional teams, including UX/UI designers, product managers, engineers, and marketers, to ensure cohesive digital design solutions.
  • Design Execution:Develop high-fidelity designs and prototypes, turning complex user requirements into intuitive interfaces that deliver both business results and delightful user experiences.
  • Prototyping & Testing:Create interactive prototypes for internal review, customer feedback, and user testing to iterate on designs and improve user experience.
  • Brand Consistency:Ensure that all digital touchpoints adhere to brand guidelines and maintain consistency across all channels, ensuring seamless and visually appealing user interactions.
  • Mentorship & Guidance:Provide direction, mentorship, and constructive feedback to junior designers and team members, fostering growth and creative development.
  • Industry Awareness:Stay updated on the latest design trends, tools, and technologies, applying these insights to continually improve the design process and output.
  • Evangelist for Design:Advocate for user-centered design principles within the company, promoting best practices in design, user experience, and accessibility.
  • Stakeholder Presentations:Present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders, ensuring alignment and driving design decisions that meet business and user needs.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, Digital Media, UX/UI Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in UX/UI design with a strong emphasis on web-based solutions and digital platforms, or a related field.
  • Strong portfolio that demonstrates your ability to create compelling digital designs and user-centric experiences for diverse audiences and across various devices and channels.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Extensive experience working in agile, SCRUM team environments, collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver high-fidelity designs.
  • Deep understanding of responsive web design, mobile platforms, and web development processes.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Sketch, and other relevant prototyping tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate design ideas, concepts, and rationale to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of designing digital products that deliver meaningful business results.
  • Experience in leadership or senior-level design roles.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to collaborate effectively with developers.
  • Experience with accessibility (508 compliance) and design system experience.
  • Familiarity with usability testing, A/B testing, and user research.
  • A passion for staying ahead of the curve in design trends, technology, and user experience best practices.


This position is a Hub role, which requires an employee to occasionally come onsite to the designated office - Minnetonka, Madison, Omaha - for applicable heads-up work. Frequency is determined by business need as decided by leadership.

The full salary range for this position is $98,400 to $168,600. Annual salary range placement will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, applicable certifications and/or licensure, the position's scope and responsibility, internal pay equity and external market salary data.
