Focus: As a Design Engineer with our organization, you will develop, test, and improve products and systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating innovative designs, conducting simulations, drafting technical data packages, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the successful execution of projects.

Design Engineer Essential Job Functions:

• Develop and optimize product designs and drafting using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo) while ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.

• Conduct simulations, hands-on prototyping, tolerance stacking evaluation, and engineering trials to validate design performance and troubleshoot issues.

• Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, drafting, tool & die machine shops, and cross-functional teams to meet project requirements and improve existing products.

• Apply engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing engineering processes to create cost-effective and efficient designs to specific timelines.

• Maintain a high level of technical documentation, analyze data, and communicate findings effectively to stakeholders.

Design Engineer Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree* in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering.

• Minimum 3 years of experience in design engineering or product development.

• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, Creo) and simulation tools (DEFORM), and a strong understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T drafting. Certification in Y14.5 is preferred.

• Strong understanding of engineering principles, mechanics of materials, tolerance stacking, precision tool & die design, metal forming, and manufacturing engineering processes.

• Ability to perform a high-level of critical thinking and technical problem-solving analysis, feasibility studies, engineering trials, detailed engineering price estimates, and calculated risk assessments.

Location-Specific Requirements:

• This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

• This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.

• This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. The US Government does not allow non-US citizens on-site at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a US citizen.
