New Hanover County is seeking an
Administrative Technician to join the Centralized Support Services Section of the Consolidated Health and Human Services Agency.
As an integral part of the Centralized Services team, the Administrative Technician will deliver exceptional customer service while performing a variety of administrative tasks.
Key responsibilities include coordinating the registration of birth and death certificates, entering and maintaining data in computer systems, processing disinterment/re-interment burial permits, and managing both medical and immunization records. The role also involves maintaining patient charts, registering patients, scheduling appointments, and reviewing customer income and insurance information to determine eligibility for state and federally funded health programs. Additionally, the Administrative Technician will support various administrative functions during regular business hours and outreach events, greet customers in the lobby, and perform other duties as assigned.
This position is in a fast paced, high volume office environment, requiring the ideal candidate to be a critical thinker, capable of multitasking and processing information swiftly and accurately. The candidate must be able to prioritize changing demands while maintaining a focus on delivering high-quality customer service.

Work Schedule
Hours are 8:00 - 5:00 Monday - Friday. Must be available to work during emergency situations.
Salary Information:
The
hiring range
for this position begins at
$36,325 plus a competitive benefits package.
Salary will be determined based on qualifications.
Bilingual candidates are eligible for a differential (5%) when performing Spanish language interpretation during the course of work.

Qualifications
-
Required Education and Experience:
- An equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education, training, and experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the functions of the role and successfully perform the essential duties, equivalent to 1 year of clerical, data entry, administrative support, or related experience.
- High School diploma/GED
- Must be proficient in Microsoft software programs, including Excel, and the ability to learn new software systems.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
