Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, to provide an environment for student-athletes to learn, advance and excel both academically and athletically, and to serve the interests of the University by complimenting and enhancing its diversity and quality of life. Through its athletic programs, the University seeks to unite alumni, faculty, administration and students in a common shared experience. The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director's Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department's guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition. |
Position Summary |
The Carolina Football Internship Program is an immersive, hands-on experience designed to develop future professionals in collegiate and professional football. Under the leadership of Head Coach Bill Belichick and General Manager Michael Lombardi, interns will gain direct exposure to high-level football operations, coaching support, recruiting, personnel management, and program development. This program is ideal for driven individuals seeking careers in football, providing mentorship, skill development, and valuable industry connections. Interns will be integrated into the daily operations of Carolina Football, playing an integral role in supporting key functions of the program. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Strong passion for football and a desire to pursue a career in coaching, personnel, recruiting, or football operations. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate film, interpret data, and contribute to strategic planning. High level of professionalism, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with coaches, staff, recruits, and external stakeholders. Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and travel as needed. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Course work in Sport Management, Business, Analytics, Communications, or a related field.
Experience in football coaching, scouting, operations, analytics, or related fields. |
Special Physical/Mental Requirements |
Must be able to lift/move 25lbs or greater. May be required to navigate stairs. Attention to detail essential. Must be able to manage high volume, fast paced environment. May be subject to working in extreme weather conditions. Travel required. All duties to be performed with or without reasonable accommodation. |
