Position Summary Information


Minimum Qualifications
Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with 10 years of experience in finance, accounting, or banking.


Experience:

  • Extensive experience in financial management, preferably in higher education or a similar environment.
  • Experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience in working with academic departments and faculty.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems.

License/Certification Required
Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.

  • CPA or other relevant professional certifications preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Financial Planning and Budgeting:

    • Develop and manage the academic affairs budget, including forecasting, allocation, and expenditure tracking.
    • Oversee the preparation of annual budgets and long-range financial projections.
    • Ensure budget adherence and identify potential financial issues or opportunities.




  • Financial Oversight and Compliance:

    • Maintain financial records and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
    • Monitor financial performance, analyze trends, and provide insights to inform decision-making.
    • Oversee financial operations, including accounting, contracts, and procurement.



  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with the Provost, Deans, and other academic leaders to understand their needs and priorities.
    • Provide financial guidance and support to academic departments and programs.
    • Communicate financial information clearly and effectively to stakeholders.



  • Strategic Financial Planning:

    • Contribute to the development of the institution's strategic financial plan.
    • Identify and pursue opportunities to enhance the financial sustainability of the academic division.



  • Other Duties:

    • May be involved in grant management, and revenue-generating activities.
    • Supervise staff in the financial office.
