Job Summary -

Responsible for promoting the use of industry and Company technology standards. Stays abreast of current and emerging technologies/technological practices to assist in the strategic decisions of the company and Commercial Business. Designs and develops infrastructure and solutions in support of business processes, expansion, strategic sales and support of the commercial business. Responsible for the vision of business problems end-to-end including people, processes, sales opportunity, product development, engineering as part of the design solution. Mentors and supports the business account teams in best practices and company guidelines to support the strategic business. Acts as a key contributor in a complex and important business environment. May lead teams or projects as defined and share your expertise.

The Senior Solutions Engineer will be responsible for leading Solution Engineers, Sales Engineering and account teams that are focused on selling Carrier Ethernet (MAN/WAN) voice, and fiber-based solutions to Astound Broadband customers throughout the United States. The Senior Solutions Engineer will provide complex design, network planning, and project coordination, technical support working with internal boundary partners on product development, solution designs, and ICB requests. The Senior Solutions Engineering role is a matrix role which interfaces with all key boundary partners and departments to ensure successful delivery of complex solutions to customers.

Duties and Responsibilities -



  • Leading technical solutions to architectural, development and operational teams on assigned projects to ensure accurate and on-time project completion.
  • Ensures programs are envisioned, designed, developed, and implemented across the Enterprise to meet business needs. Interfaces with the architecture team and other functional areas to ensure the most efficient solution is designed to meet the business needs.
  • Drive technical solutions by following technology strategies and standards, roadmaps and practices.
  • Deliver complete solutions utilizing the company's application systems, components, and infrastructure.
  • Tracks and documents requirements for enterprise development projects and enhancements.
  • Assist management with enterprise project prioritization during the planning phase.
  • Define clear goals for all aspects of a project and manage their proper execution
  • Understand possible project challenges on constraints including, risks, time, resources and scope
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams regarding conflicts and gaps between functional goals and existing capabilities.
  • Present solutions to Sales Engineering, Solutions Architecture, and business leadership.
  • Mentors team members in relevant technologies and implementation architecture.
  • Work with Sales Engineering and Account Teams on complex customer engagements
  • Review current technologies used within the company and propose product updates to align with industry and customer requirements
  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights, weekends, and variable schedule(s) as necessary to deliver complex projects
  • Monitors current and future trends, technology, and processes. Evangelize ideas on improving the commercial business processes and drive adoption to stay current and competitive with the industry.
  • Work closely with project management teams to successfully monitor progress of initiatives
  • Drive results and growth.

Requirements/Qualifications -

Education:



  • Minimum of 8 years' experience working in a Telecom, Cableco (ideally), or IT environment
  • Bachelor degree or comparable experience in Telecommunications, Networking, Cloud or Computer Science.

The base salary range in Washington, California, Oregon, Massachusetts, New York, Maryland and Illinois for this position is $130,000-$135,000, opportunities for bonus, benefits and commission, if applicable. The base pay range represents the low and high end of the hiring range for this job. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, and capabilities. It is specific to Washington, California, Oregon, Massachusetts, New York, Maryland and Illinois and may not be applicable to other locations.



  • Targeted Bonus: $2,000-$14,000 quarterly - Our sales total compensation offers the potential for significant upside above targeted earnings for those who overachieve their sales targets.
