Workplace Assistant - Direct Support Professional

Starting pay $17.74/hr

The Workplace Assistant provides support, assistance, and guidance to individuals with disabilities that will enable the individual to develop skills and enhance their ability to fully engage with their community.

Direct Support Professional is responsible for providing 1-to-1 support to individuals in the Supported Employment program once job development is complete and place and train services are nearing completion. The Workplace Assistant will provide support related to behavior management, social skills, health, time management, safety, and/or other skills that assist the individual in the maintenance of and inclusion in an employment setting while individuals are clocked in for work. The Workplace Assistant is expected to work cooperatively with his/her supervisor, and collaboratively with Employment Specialists, and consumers of service.



  • Following the individual's Individualized Plan for Support, provides direct support to individuals at their workplace to assist with maintaining employment.
  • Support services will be related to behavior management, social skills, health, safety, time management, prompting, and other non-work skills needed to maintain employment.
  • Provides safety supports to ensure the individual can navigate the worksite and build skills for self-management.
  • Provides support to make and strengthen community connections and establish natural support on the worksite.
  • Provides personal care, if needed, in conjunction with habilitative support. Personal care could include assistance with using the restroom, eating, and physical supports to transfer, reposition, stand, etc.
  • Monitors and documents on individual consumer progress toward written ISP outcomes.
  • Collects data and provides feedback to assist in the development of consumer outcomes.
  • Informs assigned Employment Specialist of consumer's achievements, incidents, progress, or problems as needed.
  • Provides Human Rights and serves as an advocate for consumers on the worksite.
  • Completes and maintains all required Didlake training.
