Position Summary

The Institute for
Social Research (ISR) is hiring an Accounting Technician to join our team which
provides policy research and analysis for adult and juvenile justice issues in
New Mexico to government and NGO agencies. ISR employs a well-rounded team of
faculty and staff who support a broad range of research grant development and
administration.

The individual
will assist with grant auditing, account reconciliation, data entry, and creation
and maintenance of spreadsheets.

The individual
must be highly organized and self-motivated, with good time management skills,
and can autonomously track and follow-up on projects to completion.

Summer
availability is a must because of fiscal year end accounting responsibilities.

Qualifications

Enrolled in a
degree seeking program at UNM, enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for
fall and spring semesters with at least 2 college level accounting courses with
a grade of 'B' or better.

    intermediate Excel skills
  • General knowledge
    of university accounting procedures
  • Excellent
    organizational skills
  • Detail oriented
    and can multi-task
  • Ability to
    communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Record information
    completely with the ability to work in a fast-paced job under pressure
  • Ensures strict
    confidentiality of financial records, in compliance with federal and state
    regulations
  • Ability to
    analyze and solve problems

Preferred
Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-conferencing
    applications (e.g. Teams, Zoom, etc.) are required.
  • Ability to
    complete tasks independently
