Position Summary

The Department of
Emergency Medicine is looking to hire an energetic, dynamic and motivated
professional to serve as the Clinical Research Manager. This individual will
lead the Department's research staff in in the performance of industry and
federally sponsored clinical research studies. The position will plan
and implement key administrative study components to optimize study performance and supervise staff and students in the
performance of project-related duties for a variety of short and medium
duration federally and industry sponsored clinical studies. This position
requires scheduling flexibility and the ability to meet deadlines.

  • Duties
    and Responsibilities:

    Oversees the planning, implementation, and
    administration of sponsored studies, ensuring compliance with sponsor
    requirements and associated regulations, guidelines, and polices governing
    the conduct of human subject research.
  • Participates in and follows up on the identification of
    and interaction with potential industry and federal sponsors of clinical studies;
    makes recommendations and participates in decision making regarding the
    establishment of working arrangements.
  • Trains staff and serves as a primary advisor and
    resource regarding compliance with research sponsor and regulatory agency
    requirements; reviews operations as appropriate and prepares compliance
    reports.
  • Plans, coordinates, and reviews the development and maintenance
    of comprehensive and detailed study records and logs, and oversees the
    preparation of study activity reports for funding agents and various
    medical, legal, and regulatory bodies, as appropriate.
  • Oversees the supervision of research personnel, including
    scheduling, work allocation, training, promotion, enforcement of internal
    procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and
    makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to
    achieve peak productivity and performance.
  • Develops or assists with the development and
    implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the
    organization to ensure efficient and safe operation of the unit.
  • Participates in development, implementation and maintenance
    of policies, objectives, short-and long-range planning; develops and
    implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of
    established goals.
  • Provides consultation to, and liaison/coordination
    between investigators, ancillary departments, research subjects,
    sponsoring organizations, regulatory bodies and University Hospital.

Conditions of Employment
  • NM Licensure as a Registered Nurse may be required, as appropriate to the individual position
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • May be required to submit to annual TB and rubella screening.
  • UNM will provide Hepatitis vaccination, candidate may decline vaccination through declination form or may provide record of vaccination from previous employer.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • IRB submission, reporting and compliance
    experience
  • Current or previous accreditation in
    Human Subject Protections and/or Good Clinical Practices
  • Understanding of basic medical
    terminology and common medical procedures in Emergency Medicine
  • Experience working in multiple phases of
    the project lifecycle of a funded research project
  • Society of Clinical Research Associates Certificated Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) or Association for
    Clinical Research Professional (ACRP)
  • Certified Clinical Research
    Coordinator (CCRC) or equivalent
