Primary Location:

Albuquerque, New Mexico

Diesel Mechanic: Repairs and maintains fleet vehicles and equipment including heavy to light trucks, cars, trailers, and forklifts and conducts light manufacturing by performing the following duties.

  • Be able to travel 20% of time. Provide own basic hand tools.
  • Reads problem description and diagnosis equipment to determine malfunction and corrective action
  • necessary for repair.
  • Inspects vehicles for defective equipment.
  • Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on all fleet vehicle systems. Overhauls gas or diesel engines.
  • Drives or operates repaired vehicles and equipment to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Installs special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to technical manuals or schematic drawings.
  • Wears company provided uniform and safety devices as appropriate to comply with safety standards and to present a professional image.
  • Other duties may be assigned by the immediate supervisor or other supervisor at any time.

Competencies

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to perform basic functions of math in all units of measure and formats. Ability to interpret rate, ratio, percent, and graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Generally Monday through Friday - Dayshift

Pay DOE

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Certificate from a Vocational Tech. program preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Driver's License required, Commercial Driver's License - Class A

Forklift Certified by company, Obtain and maintain OSHA forklift safety certification.
