UCF InfoSec: UCF IT is the central information technology organization at the University of Central Florida, providing technology services and support to faculty, staff, and students. Reporting to the Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer, UCF IT comprises several key departments, including Infrastructure & Operations, Telecommunications, Enterprise Application Development, Information Security, Instructional Resources, and Client Services. UCF IT collaborates with university stakeholders through governance frameworks and advisory committees to ensure alignment with UCF's strategic goals. The Opportunity: The Information Security Director at the University of Central Florida (UCF) plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the university's digital infrastructure and sensitive information. This position demands a deep technical knowledge of network security protocols and best practices, enabling the director to effectively identify vulnerabilities and implement robust security measures. By staying abreast of emerging cyber threats, the director ensures that UCF's systems remain resilient against attacks. Moreover, expertise in cyber risk assessment and compliance with relevant regulations, such as FERPA and HIPAA, is essential to protect the institution's reputation and maintain stakeholder trust. In addition to technical acumen, the Information Security Director must excel in management and interpersonal skills. Leading a team of cybersecurity professionals requires not only the ability to foster collaboration and innovation but also the capacity to communicate complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders. The director serves as a bridge between technical teams and university leadership, promoting a culture of security awareness throughout the organization. By cultivating relationships across departments, the director ensures that security policies are not only enforced but embraced, ultimately contributing to UCF's mission of providing a safe and secure educational environment. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 8 years of relevant experience including 3+ years of leadership experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 12 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree including 3+ years of leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Special Instructions to the Applicants: The anticipated salary range for this position is $130,000-150,000. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations. This position involves access to items or technical data governed by the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Under U.S. export control laws, ITAR-controlled technical data may only be disclosed within the United States to individuals who qualify as "U.S. Persons." A "U.S. Person" includes U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents (i.e., "green card" holders), and individuals granted asylum or refugee status in the United States. As a result, applicants must meet the definition of a U.S. Person to be eligible for this role.
