Brush Cutter Operator PROG

Position Summary

Operates Brush cutter in a safe manner to perform maintenance and vegetation management along the Patriot Rail right-of-way.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties

* Operates BTE 313 Excavator with mulching and cutting head attachment.

* Inspects and maintains equipment and vehicle, making minor repairs to keep both in safe operating condition

* Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with regulations, policies and procedures.

* Performs equipment safety and maintenance checks, making emergency adjustments as necessary.

* Takes actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, and falling objects.

* Studies instructions, plans, and diagrams to establish work requirements.

* Coordinates with local management team to establish work plans.

* Coordinates with 3 party vendor for the efficient movement of equipment from property to property.

General/Other Responsibilities and Duties

* Keeps records of material and equipment usage and problems encountered.

Qualifications:

* Some knowledge of electrical and Hydraulic systems

* FRA 213 qualified to establish on-track protection

* Previous experience operating heavy equipment - in a railroad construction environment preferred.

* Mechanical troubleshooting skills.

* A valid Commercial Driver's License and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Driving Record.

* Experience using hand tools, power tools and hydraulic equipment.

* Knowledge of and ability to adhere to safety requirements and procedures.

* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

* Ability and willingness to be trained as well as train others on the machine

Minimum Physical Requirements:

Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, handle objects, reach with hands and arms, write, talk, type and hear. Associate is occasionally required to sit, stoop, bend and/or kneel and lift and/or move up to 80 lbs. Exposed to moving mechanical parts and uses repetitive motions.
