Job Summary:
This position will be responsible for creating both digital and print-based graphics for The Thunderbirds, hosts of the PGA TOUR event, WM Phoenix Open, as well as Thunderbirds Charities. This is a hands-on role that serves as the go-to creative and graphic design resource within the organization.
Our ideal candidate is technically sound, passionate, hard-working, detail-oriented, and is knowledgeable in the latest trends and practices in graphic design. They are action-oriented, and view design challenges with a mindset of curiosity and enthusiasm.
The Graphic Designer will support a broad range of initiatives and campaigns, including traditional, digital, social and print media.

Duties & Responsibilities: Include, but are not limited to, the following:
Conceptualize, design, and produce press-ready artwork and graphics across each branch of The Thunderbird organization, a few examples noted below, not a comprehensive list:
  • The Thunderbirds Membership
    • Sales sheets, presentation materials, print collateral, digital newsletter, etc.
  • WM Phoenix Open
    • Ticketing collateral, digital graphics, print advertising, etc.
  • Thunderbirds Charities/Thunderbirds Foundation
    • Print advertising, environmental design, social content, etc.
  • Manage the organization and distribution of all creative assets (through Dropbox, Vimeo, Brandfolder, etc)
  • Identify social media/marketing opportunities utilizing video/still photography content.
  • Work with membership and staff to ascertain needs and to develop graphic directions, concepts, scope, and specifications for assigned projects.
  • Use and help maintain our various content management systems (Brandfolder, DropBox, Smugmug)
  • Keyword, edit, and organize photo library (Lightroom, Smugmug experience a plus)
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
5+ years of design experience at a creative or media agency, or in-house with a brand or creative team.
A portfolio demonstrating selected work showcasing strong design sense and conceptual abilities. Samples including layout design, typography, photo editing, across digital and print are preferred.
  • Strategic thinker with leadership qualities - ability to take initiative and problem-solve.
  • Advanced ability in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Calm, thoughtful approach to challenges, while keeping a focus on prioritization.
  • Professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to take strategic feedback and incorporate into revisions, edits, modifications, resizing and other adjustments.
  • Team player mentality, excited to collaborate and bring creative ideas to the table.
  • Availability to work in office, full time.
