Duties and Responsibilities
This position will be based at Loyola University Chicago's Health Sciences Campus in Maywood, Illinois, but may occasionally require work at a Loyola University Medical Center satellite campus.

Under the guidance of the principal investigator (PI), the research nurse is responsible for assuring that the integrity and quality of the clinical research trial is maintained and that the trial is conducted in accordance with good clinical practice guidelines, federal and sponsor regulations and Loyola University Policy and procedures.

  • Plans and implements clinical trial to include but not limited to coordination with all members/ departments/ external institutions of the study team, oversight of IRB, regulatory and /or FDA submissions, budget preparation participation, and study management tool development.
  • Coordinates all aspects of assigned trials in compliance with federal guidelines.
  • Collaborates with the PI in the case management of protocol patients; assuring compliance with the protocol and regulatory requirements and patient billing compliance.
  • Prepares and participates in Cooperative Group Audits, NCI, FDA, Sponsor GCP quality audits, Loyola internal audits and department audits.
  • Participates in program research planning to include as appropriate, protocol development, data reporting and grant reporting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree OR equivalent training acquired via work experience or education
  • 1-2 years of previous job-related experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • 3-5 years of previous job-related experience.
  • Experience with oncology population.
  • Project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with clinical trials preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Prior quality improvement or educational experience.

Certificates/Credentials/Licenses

  • Current Illinois RN Licensure
  • Desirable: ACRP or SoCRA certification
  • Desirable: Oncology Nursing Society certification

Computer literacy with word processing, excel, internet web, databases, electronic data capture, electronic image transmission
