Job Summary

Perform process control and certification laboratory testing and analysis in support of manufacturing operations. Responsible for the verification of product and material characteristics and completion of associated manufacturing documentation and other quality records, utilizing a range of laboratory techniques and methods including, but not limited to chemical analysis, mechanical, physical and electrical testing on coupon, sub element, sub scale and full scale test articles. This responsibility will be discharged under the authority delegated by quality.

Job Responsibilities

  • Exemplifying a safety-first mind-set and ensuring that the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards are followed.
  • Responsible for performing process control and certification laboratory testing on coupon, sub element, sub scale and full scale test articles. Interpret test data, verify product conformance and document test results
  • Operate test equipment; such as: Mechanical and electrical test rigs and Chemical Analysis equipment. Perform qualitative or quantitative tests using standard or specialized equipment and instruments, and issue reports as required.
  • Follow laboratory plans, procedures and instructions set forth by applicable lab superiors. Provide data and information to lab personnel, and other customers, as appropriate
  • Deliver technical training and provide guidance to other GKN Laboratory Technicians.
  • Responsible for ensuring adherence to acceptance test procedures
  • Responsible for the execution of any customer and regulatory delegated inspection processes as authorized by those parties. Responsible for maintaining those delegated authorities once granted.
  • Support root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances
  • Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers
  • Support continuous improvement of production and inspection processes by implementing Lean initiatives.
