Reception/Scheduling Clerk-Out Patient Clinics

Schedulers are responsible for scheduling patients for new appointments, returning appointments, diagnostic tests and procedures as ordered by referring physicians (generally via Epic, fax or telephone).

The Patient Scheduler will handle a large volume of incoming calls or faxes and schedule with multiple procedures within multiple departments.

This person will be the first point of contact with patients at physician offices and must ensure their needs are met.

This person will be working in a fast-paced environment where they will be expected to display expert customer service and communication skills to properly assist patients or office staff.

They are responsible for informing patients and/or physician staff of the proper preparation and instructions for the tests ordered and identify any pre-certs/authorizations/referrals they need to acquire.

Must maintain effective communication with the patient, physician offices and ancillary departments within the hospital. Pre-registration, creation of payment estimates. Responsible for faxing orders for all scheduled appointments prior to service.

I. Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must be able to type 20-25 WPM
  • Registration or Scheduling Experience Preferred
