Role Summary This intern will have a unique opportunity to join a team dedicated to tackling one of the most challenging problems facing the automotive industry today, autonomous driving, while contributing to efforts that aim to make the world a better place. They will also learn about the fundamentals of behavior safety as per ISO 21448. as well as the application of systems/safety engineering concepts to ensure a safe product development Role Responsibilities: Author new technical requirements / modify existing requirements around AV driving policies for specific geo locations based on country, state, city, municipal regulations. * Append verification criteria reasoning to aid in testing efforts of said requirements * Identify gaps in requirements after reviewing legal regulations and author additional requirements as necessary * Organize existing and new requirements as per established structure Assist in scenario development efforts to verify driving behavior requirements * Link behavior requirements from section (1) with scenarios that are applicable. * Identify gaps in scenarios if any. Assist in triggering condition analysis efforts * Understand basics of triggering conditions analysis process followed in VWGoA-ADMT-US. * Help review driving data to identify unique triggering conditions and follow steps 1-3 in the SHFA method as per ISO 21448. Qualifications * Passion for automotive engineering * Fundamentals of systems engineering * Inclination to learn and grow in systems and safety engineering discipline Qualifications
Education * You must be in a baccalaureate program and be a rising Senior to be considered of you are in a masters or PhD program presently. * You must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or above. Required knowledge and/or certification * Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) * Knowledge of ISO 21448 desired Work Flexibility: * You must be able to work onsite in either Belmont, CA or in Austin, TX for the 10 week duration The following hourly rates apply: Bachelors: $26/hr Masters: $28/hr PhD: $30/hr Volkswagen Group of America is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
