The Pittsburgh Paints Co. (PPC) Payroll Leader will report to the Total Rewards & HR Operations Director and oversee the entire payroll process, including managing employee timekeeping and attendance records, ensuring accurate calculations of wages and deductions, maintaining compliance with labor laws, and resolving any discrepancies related to time worked.

This is a hybrid position based in Cranberry Township, PA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily US payroll inputs, collection and handoffs, approvals, and issue management with Payroll vendors (UKG).
  • Work with Employees, Managers, HRBPs, and vendors when Payroll cases require escalation.
  • Payroll Approval - Reviews and approves payroll before it gets processed for payment ensuring appropriate back up is provided for every transaction.
  • Compliance - Responsible for payroll compliance and maintains knowledge of laws, regulations, contracts, procedures, and controls governing payroll operations across the region.
  • Resource and Vendor Management - Responsible for payroll vendor contracts and payroll calendars set up with the providers across the region.
  • Analyze, audit and validate HR statuses and interfaces for pay rate changes, transfers, employee deductions, changes in taxation, new hires and terminations.
  • Maintain recurring, one-time payments, and deductions.
  • Ensure accurate preparation and balancing of semi-monthly and special payrolls, payroll balance sheet and summaries.
  • Handle additions and changes to hourly payroll and payroll related items (salary changes, tax withholding, retirement plan deferrals, general deductions.)
  • Handle authorized payroll adjustments: garnishments, manual computation of gross and net pay, vacation pay, bonuses.
  • Verify application of all pay rules per the union contract where applicable.
  • Monitor and review employee timecards for accuracy, including start/stop times, breaks, overtime, and absences.
  • Implement and maintain time and attendance tracking systems.
  • Manage leave accruals, including vacation, sick days, and personal time.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll processing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience, public accounting industry would be desirable.
  • Experience in payroll operations/administration.
  • Experience developing and implementing HR Shared Services programs.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.
  • Experience with payroll software and HRIS systems (UKG, Workday.)
  • Exhibit payroll management expertise and command of relevant process intersection points and procedures.
