Committed to advancing new technologies in the field of ophthalmology, Dr. Colman Kraff helped to pioneer laser vision correction. In February of 1991, as part of a five-site, U.S., FDA clinical trial team, Dr. Kraff successfully performed the first excimer laser procedures in the Chicagoland area using the VISX Excimer Laser.

Since that time, Dr. Kraff and the Kraff Eye Institute have devoted their practice to specializing in laser vision correction. The Kraff Eye Institute has been and continues to be the lead U.S. investigative site for all VISX LASIK FDA clinical trials, performing the very first hyperopic LASIK and Wavefront-guided custom treatments in this country.

GENERAL FUNCTION

The Refractive Surgical Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the preparation and post-operative care of patients who have had a refractive surgery procedure. This position is responsible for achieving or exceeding growth targets for our Refractive services performed by our Physicians. This position will provide education and counseling based on the recommendations of the Physician and are dedicated to improving quality of life through life changing vision procedures and treatments.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Respond timely and accurately to patient inquiries, marketing follow-up and educational mailings.
  • Coordinate screenings, pre-op exams and surgeries with the team.
  • Develop patient information packets (pre and post operatively).
  • Assist with marketing plans and offer suggestions based on outcomes.
  • Effective communication with the team on outcomes based on tracking inquiries, screenings, pre and post operative care.
  • Discuss refractive surgery procedure(s) and answer questions for the patient.
  • Discuss and coordinate financial arrangements for the patient and collect pre-payment.
  • Determine which refractive surgeries a patient is a candidate for, review vision correction options with the patient and discuss the benefits of the results of different refractive surgeries with the patient.
  • Perform screening exams/consultations for potential candidates for refractive surgery including, corneal topography.
  • Follow-up with patients that cancel and need to reschedule.
  • Monitor and update database to track all Consultations.
  • Call to confirm following day consults.
  • Schedule call for Surgeon to address patient questions.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Monitor patient's medication usage and dosage instructions.
  • Educate patients on proper care of contact lenses and refractive surgery results.
  • Strive to achieve exceptional results on goals and competencies.
  • Adhere to attendance and daily time keeping requirements.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED



  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Strong customer service and communication
  • Effective selling skills
  • Embraces new technology and change
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Ability to recognize pre and post operative conditions
  • Ability to assist with patient education and counselling
  • Ability to assist Doctors with surgeries


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Experience in healthcare/clinical setting
  • Previous experience in customer service, retail and/or optical
  • Sales experience a plus

Pay Range: 23.34-35.64

Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements. In addition, you may also be offered a competitive bonus and/or commission plan, which complements a first-class total rewards package.
