US Commercial Sr. Director Strategy
Location: Philadelphia, PA or Durham, NC

The Sr. Director, US Commercial Strategy will serve as initiator and driver of strategic initiatives critical for the future success of GSK US, to evolve go-to-market approach, build new enterprise capabilities, and evaluate ongoing and future capital allocation and investment plans to deliver optimal commercialization of GSK vaccines and medicines. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Additionally, the incumbent will act as a trusted aide and thought partner to the US Leadership Team, providing insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making while maintaining a high level of discretion and confidentiality.

This position will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders (e.g., finance, communications, HR), including the USC leadership team (CLT), global pharma leadership teams, business unit leadership teams, and their strategy & operations leaders to align goals and ensure cohesive execution. The incumbent will also engage with external stakeholders such as key partners, clients, and industry leaders to foster relationships and drive business growth. Effective communication and relationship-building skills are essential to navigate and influence these diverse interactions and achieve organizational objectives.

The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to the following.

Strategy:

  • Identify emerging trends, business needs, and potential partnerships to ensure future success of USC.
  • Identify and drive initiatives to evolve USC go-to-market approach and build new enterprise capabilities, capitalizing on external trends and portfolio opportunities.
  • Evaluate ongoing and future capital allocation and investment plans to deliver optimal commercialization of GSK vaccines and medicines.

Innovation:

  • Build portfolio and strategic brand programs as a part of Market Development, e.g., unlocking non-traditional marketing channels, cross portfolio collaborations, data and evidence generation strategy
  • Drive innovation in terms of unlocking out-of-box thinking, designing & building business cases, and executing competitive advantage enabling partnerships.

External Collaborations:

  • Develop and implement strategies for business expansion, including identifying external capabilities and technologies to bring in-house and potential collaborations.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences and networking events to establish a strong industry presence, gather lates insights and engage with potential external partners commercial model for the US.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 8+ years in Life Sciences and Health Care industry experience.
  • Experience leading teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Math, Life Science, Social Sciences (Economics), or Engineering.
  • MBA or advanced degree in one of the disciplines above.
  • Consulting experience with a top-tier consultancy firm.
  • Proven thought leadership within the industry space (publications, presentation etc.)
  • Strong and demonstrated entrepreneurial drive, thriving on intellectual challenge and raising the bar in terms of quality work.
  • Ability to scope, define, and interpret quantitative analyses of operational problems.
  • Experience planning and leading strategic initiatives.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively - both verbally and in writing.
  • Executive demeanor, comfortable functioning at the highest levels of organizations with commensurate presentation skills, including strong verbal and writing capabilities.
  • Experience in stakeholder facilitation and management.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Proven and advanced collaboration skills, and cultural sensitivity.
