Summary:

A Registered Nurse skilled to deliver individualized nursing care to patients/families according to their identified needs. The nursing care is based on the nursing process and augments the medical plan of treatment appropriate to the Specialty Clinic.

Education:

  • Graduate of accredited nursing program.

  • Minimum of one year pediatric nursing experience preferred.

  • Experience in a clinical setting preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

This role will serve primarily as a resource for the clinic and will be expected to be competent in the following:

  • Care for central lines which includes accessing mediports, changing dressings on central lines, changing caps, and drawing labs.

  • Be a member of our procedure team and assist in safely caring for patients during, pre and post receiving moderate sedation for their lumbar punctures, bone marrow aspirates and line removals.

  • Be able to fill in and support Medical Assistants on days that call for it.

  • Be able to support certain aspects of team nursing and seeing patients within the Stem Cell Transplant and Neuro Oncology Teams.

Certification/Licensure:

  • Current permit or license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas.

  • Current BLS Certification.

  • Will obtain advanced life support certification within two years from their date of hire/transfer date.

  • Other certification may be required by department.

  • Valid Driver's License required
