Salary: $90,700- $129,850

Focus: We are seeking a driven and highly motivated Project Engineer to engage in engineering projects from concept to successful completion. As a key player in technical problem-solving, documentation, and stakeholder communication, you will have a direct impact on optimizing processes to enhance efficiency and performance. The role requires a hands-on approach to problem-solving and a keen eye for detail.

Project Engineer - 6.8 Program Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist in designing, modifying, and upgrading machinery and production equipment to improve efficiency, safety, and reliability.

  • Participate in site visits, inspections, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve machinery-related issues, reducing downtime and enhancing system performance.

  • Collaborate with teams to optimize production processes, ensure compliance with industry regulations, and implement best practices for operational success.

  • Prepare technical reports, project documentation, cost estimates, and progress updates to support informed decision-making and project management..

Project Engineer - 6.8 Program Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree* in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering completed by May 2025

  • Must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (documentation required). Candidate's with 2 years full time, recent engineering experience do not require GPA documentation. Cumulative GPA on current institution transcript will be used in transfer college situations.

  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems and machinery.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results in a high-pressure environment.

  • Effectively set priorities, manage high-volume workload, and willingness to be collaborative and support team efforts.

  • Ability to travel approximately 10%.

Additional Preferred Candidate Attributes:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project and Minitab, or equivalent project management and analysis tools.

  • An active "Secret" Security Clearance is highly desirable.

Location-Specific Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid US Driver's License.

  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.

  • This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. The US Government does not allow non-US citizens on-site at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a US citizen.
